Even though, from a Christian perspective, Caitlin gets herself into some situations that we would not want our daughters to be in, the author does an amazing job of portraying them so that the reader feels the character's apprehension and, ultimately regret. My students were given two weeks to read the book and provide chapter summaries, and they all finished in ONE week because they loved the book.
It is my hope that they are not only enjoying the reading material but that it will have a positive impact on their lives. They have moved right on to the following books in the series now.
I teach a high school reading applications class to 9th graders at a Christian school and was looking for something fun for the girls to read at the end of the school year. I am grateful to Melody Carlson for her work and investment in the lives of teenage girls.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This was a HIT.
The content is appropriate and realistic for high school girls but presented from a Christian perspective and, therefore, not too graphic in nature.
I am 19 and read all 5 books during my fall semester at college. The caitlin series follows a girl from high school through college and eventually marriage. This is an awsome series and I reccomend reading all the caitlin books and in order. I like how they are christian based, have a good story line and teach good morals.
I read books with different age ranges just to see what the tween/teen books are about and I have to say I was very pleased when I got into this book.Very educational book on growing up, respecting your body, religion, friendship and faith.Plus in the form of a diary you can not go wrong and won't be disappointed. Trust me as I was a young mother myself I don't think you'd be disappointed with the purchase one bit. She is very level headed and very responsible.
My daughter loves to read as well, shes just like I was and I will hold these for here for about another year or so (shes still a little young) then let her enjoy them. I know I wasn't and came to me as a complete surprise. If she has any unanswered questions and reads this book I'm sure a lot of her questions will then get answered.
I am a 32 year old mother who has a soon to be 13 year old teenage(daughter) in my house. I then found out this is a series and will purchase all the others as well. It will leave you wanting to go out and purchase the whole series of all the diary's of a teenage girl books.
I purchased this book of all places at a Salvation Army because I liked the title of the book, got it home and read cover to cover in about a day and a half. I loved to read growing up and always had my nose in a book, I wish I would of found these books while I was in middle school/high school.
She said it was not too religious for her- she could relate with the main character. I recently purchased this book for my fourteen year old daughter, she told me it was a great book. In fact I am looking at purchasing more in the series.
She found it interesting to read. The book is age appropriate and I read it before I gave to my 18 year old niece for her birthday. She wants to buy the whole set.
